Eating 7 or more vegetables a day reduces your risk of premature death by 42%, according to a new study of more than 65,000 people. A diet rich in fruit and vegetables protects against cancer and heart disease in particular. It also reduces the risk of death from virtually any cause and those at any age. While eating even more vegetables gave even more protection to participants, even one serving of vegetables (85g) per day provides a 14% decrease in mortality risk.
